Aimed at the general practitioner, this intensive one-day course provides the essential knowledge required to introduce Orthodontics into everyday practice, enhancing the range of services available. Detailing how to record a full patient history, obtaining a full set of records and conducting a comprehensive examination, it also demonstrates best practice for constructing a list of relevant issues, formulating a diagnosis and setting treatment aims.
Matt will also provide a valuable insight into treatment planning using both fixed and removable appliances. This will be supported by detailed discussion regarding the process, complexities and legalities of the associated consent procedure.

Matt qualified as a dentist at Guy’s Hospital in 1998 and spent 7 years as a dentist in the Army. During this time he served in the UK, Germany, Middle East, Balkans and Africa. After a year as a Senior House Officer in the Maxillofacial Department in Portsmouth, he started his 3 year orthodontic training at Bristol University, receiving his doctorate in dental surgery with the top academic prize in 2008. Matthew is a member of the General Dental Practice Committee at the British Dental Association, a member of the Orthodontic Specialist Group Committee at the British Orthodontic Society and a member of his Local Dental Committee. He has had several papers published in peer-reviewed journals and is a registered specialist with the General Dental Council.
